FAQS

What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?

  • Both a therapist and a coach work with you as you implement changes in your life and move to a better place. The main difference is therapists are licensed mental health professionals and can diagnose specific conditions, help you heal from past traumas and sessions tend to be emotionally ‘deeper’. Our coaching relationship will be focused on envisioning your ideal future and taking new actions to make that future into reality.
(Coaching and therapy work together well - as you gain more insight and learn about yourself in therapy, you will set new goals and make lasting habit changes through coaching.)

What does a coach actually do?  Can’t I just do this myself?

  • Great question. Yes, with self-discipline and purpose you can accomplish incredible things. But even the best athletes have coaches to help them focus on the bigger picture.  Investing in a coach is a commitment to your future self.  You will be more focused and accountable to your goals with the help of a good coach.

What if coaching doesn’t work for me?

  • As with all relationships, some coaching relationships aren’t a good fit. That is why we provide an introductory session to ensure compatibility and readiness. Refunds are also available per our refund policy.

What changes will we work on?

Specific changes are client dependent, there is no one-size fits all approach. A few options are:

  • Stress management/ burnout

  • Improving focus/ ADHD management strategies

  • Physical wellness/ Exercise & nutrition

  • Mindfulness / establishing purpose

  • Sleep hygiene/ having more energy

How hard do I have to work?

  • Simply, we believe you have more in the tank and the human mind is conditioned to keep us comfortable.  But we won’t push so hard that you are exhausted. In order to grow, you must stress and then recover. Through practice, you will find the right balance for you.

What if I am in a crisis?

  • If you are having thoughts of self-harm, call the crisis line at 988.

  • While we cannot guarantee an immediate response, you may reach out at any time for any reason. We will do our best to help or direct you to an appropriate resource.

When does our work end?

  • The short answer is we will both ‘sense’ when it’s time to end coaching.  A typical coaching relationship will last a minimum of 3 months, as that allows for habit formation and lifestyle changes to take root. You can choose to end the relationship at any time, and we encourage clients to discuss this topic. Coaching is not intended to go on indefinitely.
